My biggest joy around money is that with money I can pay for
the organic food and the mind/body services that allow me to thrive.
The biggest challenge that I face today resides in t
he balancing of my typical optimism and affirmation-based thinking,
with the newer practice of conscious discipline into my daily life.
I am joyful that the economy is changing peoples' behavior. Sometimes I wonder how I can be in the product-oriented business of selling clothing, when I am against consumerism. It thrills me to know that people are reevaluating how they spend their money, taking a look at what they need verses what they want. If this downturn makes people spend more consistently with their values, then I am all for it. Knowing it will impact our business is just a special challenge for us at BECKONS. This is encouraging us to look at our product. Does it serve a greater purpose? While we are trying to help people enhance their lives wearing our clothing, we are also working to support organic farmers and other business that believe in the "triple bottom line," (a focus, not only on profit but, on our impact on the planet and it's people.)
